We Love Loveland, CO | The “Why” Behind Our Loveland Wedding Venue

Updated: Jan 6, 2021

Our family has been in Loveland for six generations, so it’s easy to see that we love Loveland. But it isn’t just us. There are so many reasons to love Loveland, Colorado. And some of those reasons are the very reason we wanted to open a Loveland wedding venue. Whether you are also a Lovelander or traveling to the Sweetheart City just to get married, we think you’ll find just as many things to adore about our great city.

The Sweetheart City

Loveland got its name in 1877 from a pivotal figure in the area’s history—William A.H. Loveland, the Colorado Central Railroad president. And throughout Loveland’s nearly 150 years, people have embraced the Loveland name in a variety of ways.

Of course, one of our claims to fame is the Loveland Valentine Re-Mailing Program. People worldwide mail their valentines to Loveland to receive a unique Loveland stamp and then have them remailed to their destination.

Another way you see the love are the heart sculptures all over the city. And who could forget the wooden hearts put up on street lights all over town around Valentine’s Day with personalized valentines hosted by the Loveland Thompson Valley Rotary Club?

Gateway to the Rockies

Both locals and visitors alike take advantage of Loveland’s proximity to the Rocky Mountains. You can go for a hike at the unique Devil’s Backbone Trail without even getting five minutes out of town.

But Loveland is also just a 45-minute drive away from Estes Park, the home of Rocky Mountain National Park. No matter what your flavor of outdoor adventure is, you can find in within an hour of Loveland—camping, backpacking, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, and the list goes on! We’re spoiled in Loveland to be close to so many opportunities for adventure, and people here sure don’t take that for granted.

All the Art

Another thing Loveland is known for is our art, especially sculpture. Sculpture in the Park is an international sculpture festival bringing artists from all over the world to show their sculptures. It’s the largest outdoor juried sculpture show in the country. Sculpture in the Park is hosted in Benson Sculpture Garden, which is full of bronze sculptures from over 100 artists (and one of our preferred locations for weddings!) And, throughout town, you’ll see bronze sculptures and sculptures made from other media are a staple of the city.

Part of this love affair with sculpture comes from the fact that there are three major bronze foundries in Loveland that create bronze sculpture casting for artists. The oldest of these foundries has been operating in Loveland since 1972.

Craft Brews, Distilleries, and Wine

In recent years, many great microbreweries, distilleries, and even a winery have popped up around Loveland. They’re great for tourism, and the locals love them too! Loveland Aleworks and Verboten Brewing are a few favorite breweries in town. Spring 44 is a popular distillery with a nice taproom, and Sweet Heart Winery is the go-to spot for locally bottled wine.

Really, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to things to love about Loveland. But if you haven’t fallen already, we’re pretty convinced that after your Loveland microwedding, you’ll be in love with Loveland too.
